Schiedsrichter-Lehrgang für Minis

Lektion Überprüfung des Lernerfolgs

The following pages contain three test papers which can either be used in a formal way to enable children to gain their mini-basketball officiating award, or as a less formal assessment of their progress. However you plan to use the tests a few simple points should be considered.

We want children to succeed, and for this to happen they must feel confident and relaxed. If there are any children in the group that have learning difficulties, embarrassment can be avoided by speaking to them privately before the tests. Find out what help, if any, they require and, if necessary, arrange for someone to sit with them to help. Remember, you are testing the children's knowledge of mini-basketball, not their reading and writing skills, and for them to perform well it is important that they feel confident and not be embarrassed.

The scoresheet provided can be printed to provide sheets, both for practice and for the test.

The Tests

The Scoring Assignment

As previously suggested, the commentary for the scoring is best delivered using the relevant referee's signals to reinforce the verbal instructions. Encourage the children to return the signals, as appropriate, and to look up as soon as they have finished writing each item. There may be children in the group that require help with reading and writing, reassure such children before the test, that someone will site with them to help with any problems that they might encounter.

Provide the pre-match information on an overhead projector or print out the information the pre-match information from the scoring assignment worksheet to give to the children. (Players' names could be abbreviated).

SCORESHEET MARK SCHEME

It is recommended that the scoresheet be marked out of 50 and then doubled to obtain a percentage mark. Marks are available as follows:

a. Preparation and finishing of sheet
Lose one mark for each error or omission

5

b. Team information
Lose one mark for each error or omission

10

c. Players on court
Lose one mark for each error or omission
10
d. Running score
Lose one make for each basket that is missed, other mistakes should only be penalised once, for example, if all free throws are recorded with a line through the score instead of a spot lose only one mark.
10
e. Correct final score and winners
This is clearly the most important item and no marks can be awarded if the final score is incorrect.
25

The pass mark for this section of the Award is 60%. As with all sections of the Award, children who do not achieve the pass mark first time may resit the test after further instruction.
