The scoresheet
is used to keep track of events during a game, (e.g.
fouls, periods played in, scorers, free throws etc.).
This helps the referees keep track of fouls and coaches
keep track of who's played how many quarters (remember,
in mini-basketball each child is required to play at
least two quarters).
SCORER
The scorer
is responsible for filling in the scoresheet.
The letters below refer to the labels on the sample
scoresheet.
- Before the game starts, fill in
the boxes A at the top of the scoresheet.
- Before the game starts, fill in
the details of the teams B, name and colours
of each team, then the names and numbers of the
players. [The players should be entered in numerical
order].
- At the start of the first period
put an X in the 'Player in' column [1]
for each of the five players on court. Repeat
this in the appropriate column at the beginning
of each period.
- When a basket is scored, first
cross out the points in the correct Running Score
column, [column A for team A] with a diagonal
line / then write in the number of the player in
the blank space alongside.
- When a free throw is scored, cross
out the score with a "•" and write the number of the player in the adjacent
box.
- When a personal foul is committed
write 'P' in the foul box to the right of
the player's number.
- If 2 free throws are awarded for
a foul then write 'P2'
in the appropriate box.
- If an unsportsman-like foul is
committed write 'U2'
in the appropriate box.
- At the end of each Period, put
a circle round the scores of each team, rule a line
immediately below them and enter them in the boxes
provided.
At the end of the game complete the
'Final Score' and 'Signatures' boxes
[K and L].
